38 weeks

Here you go. I think it speaks for itself.

And just for fun, here is me in the same shirt at 24 weeks.

And to think I THOUGHT I had a baby belly then. HA! Little did I know....

Ready for guests

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that Lewis and I were in the process of getting the guest bath and guest bedroom ready for any potential guests. He even painted the guest bath a new color.

Here are the results:

The shower curtain. And if you look closely, the shower hooks are little Texas flags.

The sink area. Lewis is currently sanding and painting the drawers and doors that go on the front. They should be done very soon.

Just a few of the accessories that will go on a shelf once Lewis has put up my "over the toilet" cabinet. FYI, that is a miniature cotton bale. It's my favorite decoration in there. My dad gave it to me several years ago.

The circle star will go on the wall in front of the toilet. It's another of my favorite pieces.
Also notice the floors. The whole house is stained and sealed concrete.
Which is good and bad for BB...Good because he/she will be able to zip around pretty fast in a walker/little bike. Bad because his/her knees are gonna get a workout as it's trying to learn to crawl!

The guest bedroom. It looks nicer than the master bedroom. :)
I love love love how it has all turned out! And the best thing, is that I spent about $80 total on both rooms. 98% of the stuff, I already owned, it was just boxed up.
If you have ever been to our house or even know how Lewis and I "are", you know that our house is very spartan. We have our reasons. And slowly, but surely, our house will come together. At the least, this half of the house is ready for visitors.
Next up, BB's nursery. It is functional, but not completely done. Pictures of the nursery to follow soon!!

My most recent OB appt, in staccato

Not much new happening.

BB's heartbeat was in the 150's. Definitely still head down.

No dilation, but 50% effaced versus last weeks 20%.

Still high up at a -3 station.

I don't really think anything is going to happen anytime soon. Which is a good thing, I'm thinking. I feel like I still have a lot to do before BB gets here. I have gotten A LOT done in the last week, but there are still things to do.

My OB is out of town 3 out of the 5 weekdays next week. I really hope nothing happens while she is gone. I do not want to be seen by another doctor.

My next appt is Wed, April 1st. I also do not want an April Fool's baby.

That's the scoop. Nothing too exciting. :)

I'm due for a monthly pic on Friday, so I'll share that at the end of the week!

Future BB

My friend Becky showed me a site that you can "create" a picture of a future baby. Of course, I tried it. :)

I submitted a picture of me and Lewis and this is what the website spit out as a future BB:

Hmmmmmm, I don't know what to think. It already has Lewis' hairline. :)
It will be interesting to look at this in a year and see how it compares.
Oh, and BTW, I "created" BB several times, each one was different. This was just the last one.

A Heads Up

Due to security issues, I changed the web address to this blog.

I have no idea if it will affect your bookmarks, favorites, etc.

Email, page, or call me if any weirdness shows up. Leave me a comment if all systems seem to be a go.

Baby Update

Can you freaking believe I actually gained weight since my appointment 5 DAYS AGO?!?! Argh.... I also had the lovely experience of waking up to choking on my own reflux this morning. Yuck!!

All the usual was normal...blood pressure, pee, and BB's heartbeat was back in the 150's. It's been such a squirmy thing lately! He/She gets the hiccups a lot. Lewis even notices when he puts his hand on my belly.

My GBS test came back negative. Basically, that just means I don't have to be given antibiotics when I go into labor. Which is a good thing, since they have to be administered through and IV and I plan on not having one. I will have a Hep Lock, which will give quick access to an IV if I end up needong one for some reason. I want to be mobile, if I choose, during labor.

I also had my first internal. I'm willing to bet good money BB will not arrive this week. I am not dilated AT ALL and my cervix is only 20% effaced. BB's head is also at a Station -3. Click on the links to see what those terms mean.

I have another appt next Monday. I left today's appt with "my file". Basically, it's paperwork with all my information on it from my OB so I can pre-register and get the hospital on board with my history/stats/etc.

Lewis and I attended some baby classes this weekend. It was nice to hear Lewis say that he learned some valuable information. I have to agree. This was something that really stood out for us.

In other news, my birthday was last week. I am now 33. (Holy Cannoli!)

Lewis had to work late that night, but he came home with a very nice card and a dozen beautiful red roses. We went out to eat at a very yummy Italian restaurant on Saturday with his parents. My MIL made my favorite dessert to eat afterwards (yes, April, it was that Strawberry Freeze pie!).

Our guest bedroom is about done. Lewis just needs to hang some stuff on the walls and we need to move the dresser in there. It is too heavy for Lewis to do by himself, and if I help him, BB will plop on the floor. :)

Lewis also worked on cabinets for the Laundry Room this weekend and I'm optimistic they will be up in a couple of weeks!

Otherwise, nothing new. The weather is supposed to be incredible this week! Yay!!

And Happy Early Birthday Padrino Luis!

Update/Random

I had an OB appt today.

When the nurse called me in, she told me that my doctor had 3 patients in labor, so she (the doc) was at the hospital, and that she (the nurse) would be doing my exam today.

It was the usual...weight was taken (normal gain), BP (excellent), and pee in a cup (she didn't say anything, so I assume it was fine!). We listened to BB's heartrate and it was a tad slower than usual. 135ish bpm. According to the books I read and the Internet, BB weighs around 6 lbs at this point in pregnancy.

I was due for the GBS test and will have the results at my next appt. I don't think it's that big of a deal.

Since I am in the home stretch of this pregnancy, I will see my doctor once a week, until BB arrives. My internals exams begin next week, at my appt on Monday. Fun, fun. These basically tell the doctor the "status" of my cervix.

I will also do my pre-admit and Labor and Delivery Unit tour next week.

There were some home improvement projects done this past weekend, including painting and setting up the guest bath, and getting our guest bedroom set up for visitors. Our "guest bedroom" was previously a "storage area". Lots of boxes/crap had to be moved to the basement.

I will post pictures of both rooms when I have them completely finished. I need a few more things to make them look "done". (or at least as "done" as they are going to be!). This coming weekend Lewis and I will be taking some baby-related classes since we skipped out on them last month because I was sick.

My MIL finished the crib skirt and I got to bring it home and put it in the crib. It looks awesome! She is currently working on the bumpers. Again, pictures will be taken and shared when it's all put together. It's kind of a smorgasboard of things in there right now. I need to get some stuff for the walls. But that may be AFTER BB arrives, so I can do some "color specific" things.

My sister moved into her apartment this past weekend. My mom is on Spring Break, so she and my dad drove down to help her get settled. My parents will also be paying my brother and his family a visit. And so as not to leave my other sister out of the "update", I will say hello to her! :)

That's all! Have a good week!

35/35

I am 35/35 today. In "crazy-pregnant-lady-language", that means I am 35 weeks pregnant and only have 35 days to go until BB's estimated due date. AND ONLY TWO WEEKS AWAY FROM FULL TERM. So technically, Lewis and I could be bringing home a baby in about two weeks. Holy smokes.

But I don't think it will happen that early.

I have had incredible nesting urges. I clean in a tizzy, and then it goes away. And then I start cleaning again. And then it goes away.

Or I wake up at 6am with a brainful of things I MUST get down on paper before I forget.

Things like:

install a dimmer in the nursery
install a ceiling fan in the nursery
paint the guest bathroom
find a dresser/changing table TODAY
figure out where BB's clothes and supplies will go
get window treatments for the guest room and nursery

And this is only a few of them. I have a full page of "things to do" on the fridge.

I feel like there is sooo much to do, yet my hands are tied.

I brought this home today, courtesy of someone who loves BB. I love it!

My aunt and uncle's neighbor, who sews like a pro, has also generously offered to re-cover the cushions on the glider. We shopped for fabric on Wednesday. Originally, I figured I wanted the cushions re-covered in a yellow or green. But I ultimately chose a nice blue denim. I think it's going to look awesome and I can't wait to see the finished product.

My MIL showed me the rough pinnings of the baby bedding and it looks so so so good! I cannot wait until she is finished so I can put it all the crib and see how it all looks.

I have been searching high and low for a dresser that can be used a changing table. This was my original plan from the get-go. But then I decided I could save us some money by just using the dresser from a bedroom set in the guestroom. But now, the more I think about it, the more I don't want to separate the dresser from the rest of the ensemble. So I resumed my search for a dresser/changing table this week.

After hitting what seemed like a zillion used furniture stores, and calling the children's consignment stores every day this week, I made the decision to just buy a changing table that matches the crib. The crib was given to us and it's a white Jenny Lind. The matching changing table is not expensive, as it's not the greatest quality. But I don't plan on making either the crib or table heirloom pieces, so for now, I'm doing what looks nice, and does the job, for the least amount of money. As a bonus, my friend who owns a children's shop is selling me a new one at a BARGAIN price. Here is a picture of the changing table. I plan on using baskets on the lower shelves to hold supplies and some clothing.

Slowly but surely, it is all coming together. I am meeting with a friend next week to get her take on what still needs to be done that I am forgetting.

Oh! And the church Lewis and I attend has told us they want to host a baby shower for us. It will be after BB arrives. I think it will work out better that way, since by that time, we will know whether BB is a girl or a boy!

1st Day of March

If someone asks me when BB is due, I can officially say, "Next month!"

That is so incredible to me! And who knows? Maybe it will be a little bit early and make his/her debut towards the end of March! Afterall, I will be full-term on March 20th. Anyone care to guess what day BB will arrive?

In the meantime, I need to get cracking on the "nesting". I have lots to do around the house before BB gets here!
