Britton likes to touch and play with things I keep on my bathroom counter while I'm getting ready. He knows that if he wants to touch something or play with something, he needs to ask permisson first.  Depending on what it is, I usually say yes.

Today, however, he just helped himself to the small cap to a beauty item.  I reminded him he needed to ask permission first.

So he very politely asked "Mami, may I play with this, please?".  I then told him no, he could not.  I didn't want him to get distracted and leave it on the floor for Bishop to find.

He then said, "But Mami, I asked you nicely".  And I immediately thought "Just because you ask, doesn't mean you always get what you ask for". I explained that I appreciated him asking politely, but that my answer was still no.

It made me think about unanswered prayers.  Just because we pray and ask God for something, doesn't mean He doesn't hear us, He just doesn't always answer the way we would like Him to.  How many times did I want something to go the way I wanted?  Sometimes it did, sometimes it didn't.  Looking back I can see that getting my way all the time would not have been the best thing. Ultimately, my way is not the best way.  His is.  I just have to remind myself of that constantly.
