Karma

In the span of the last two weeks, I was on a "find stuff" streak. I found a very nice wallet on the plane. Of course, I turned it in. A couple of days later, I found a Coach purse in the supermarket shopping cart. I turned that in as well. As I was leaving the customer service desk from turning in the purse, I found a dollar on the floor. I kept that. It was a dollar. No way to know who that belonged to.

So I was talking to some co-workers of mine and telling them that I'd found all this stuff lately, and that I should buy some lottery tickets because apparently it seemed like money wanted to find it's way into my hands. One imbecile of a person asked why I just didn't keep what I found. Nice morals there, huh? Well, I told her if I ever lost something, especially something super important like a purse or wallet, I'd hope they'd do the right thing and turn it in.

Lo and Behold...karma came back to me yesterday.

We had gotten into PDX late on Tuesday...like 1:30 am. I was T-I-R-E-D. I went straight to bed. Right before 8am, my hotel phone rings. I didn't answer it because it could be Crew Scheduling and they may want to reroute me and I have no desire to get up and go anywhere at the moment. So I let it go to VM. I check the message a few minutes later.

It's a Flight Attendant. She found my purse. My "I-simply-adore-my-little-Coach-clutch-because-it's-the-only-designer-purse-I-own-and-it-can-go-classy-or-casual" purse.

I freaked out for 2 seconds.

Until I learned what she did. She not only hunted me down to my hotel room to tell me she found my purse, she gave me the full name of the employee she turned it over to, told me all the contents were there, and sincerely sounded like she cared. Then I called scheduling to get the number to Operations in PDX, so I could get the gate to her flight and talk to her. I didn't get to talk to her, but it was confirmed my purse had been found, so-and-so employee would have it for me later when I went to the airport.

Nothing else I could do. So I went back to sleep. It did occur to me I had no debit card, and I still had to get through the day. But luck was on my side again. I had an extra debit card on me. My bank gives out two. I'd been meaning to take it out of my bag and leaving it at home, because really, who needs to travel with 2 debit cards? I'm so glad I didn't take it out. I also happened to have another lipstick with me. Crisis averted. *grin*

I got my purse later that afternoon. Everything was there.

Thank goodness for the honest people in this world. I''ll be sending her a "thank you" token.

*****On another topic, I have 2 dates this weekend. Woo Hoo!

Updates to follow...maybe *grin*
