You ever have a day where everything revolved around different sporting events? Today was one of those days. After sleeping in on what was a waste of a beautiful morning, I made my way to the gym. The good thing about going to the gym later in the day is that there is no wait for any machine. I thought I was doing well by making sure my Ipod was all charged up and ready to go, but after I got there I realized I had forgotten the headphones. Argh....and then the weird guy next to me on the elliptical machine was talking on his cell phone during the workout!! Are you so important that you can't take an hour out of your day to disconnect yourself from the rest of the world? But then again, when he wasn't talking on his cell phone, he was singing along with his MP3 player. Normally, I wouldn't have minded, but remember, I forgot my headphones. William Hung would beat him on American Idol, that's how bad he was.
First order of business was Game 3 of the NCLS. Cards vs Astros. Series tied 1-1. For those who may not know, I am a HUGE Cardinals fan. Huge as in I try to schedule my flying around the games. Plus, red is so my color! :) During the regular season, I can let some slide, but come playoff time, it's all about my Redbirds! I was lucky enough to snag tickets to Game 2 on Thursday (woohoo!), but the Cards ended up losing. And today, they lost again. Bad pitching match-up and they created NO offense. I could go on and on about the ins and outs of the game, and what went wrong, but I think I'd bore most of you and you'd stop reading. So I'll just say that the Cards need to just suck it up and start winning. Or else there won't be any need for me to take off the week of the World Series.
NHL hockey is back for those who may not know. And sweet little 'ol me was invited to go to the game tonight........In fabulous seats......Fabulous as in 7 rows up from the glass right behind the goal the Blues attack twice. Swweeeeeet...... I'd forgotten how much fun watching a live hockey game could be. There were even a couple of fights. But, in the end, the Blues lost to Nashville 4-1. Can you see a trend here? I go to a game, my team loses. Maybe I should pretend that I want the opposing team to win.
And if watching the games weren't enough, I was constantly going online to check the scores of college football. Tomorrow promises to be more of the same. Stop the insanity!! One of the good things about flying around in a plane all day is that you can't have access to all that stuff. But do you think that stops me? Noooooo..I just grab that PA and ask if anyone knows the latest score!!! Or I ask the pilots to ask dispatch if they know anything. Or as soon as we land, I run to the terminal to see if any tv's in the bar are showing the game. Aren't I just horrible?!? What have I turned into???
So, in closing this evening, I'd like to remind everyone that there is more to me than just sports. Really there is. Just not lately. It's the weekend...and there's lots of sports being played....and it's important.....I'll hang out with you...but we can have the game on the TV or radio, right? :)
