100 more days left

I had a baby appt today. It was originally supposed to be for this Friday, but I wanted Friday open to do other things, so I called to see if they had an opening earlier this week. They did (gasp!) and it worked out great! Friday is also when I am 26 weeks. I will be entering my third and final trimester. I can't quite believe how fast time has flown by. It is also 4 weeks since my last belly pic and I have taken to posting one every 4 weeks. So look for a new belly picture by the end of this weekend. There is absolutely no question I look pregnant. :) But I think in a cute way!

My weight gain was only 1 pound these last 4 weeks. Yay! Considering the obscene amount of weight I gained at my last appt.

BB (or I guess my fundal height) is measuring right on track. I could feel BB kicking as I waited for the doctor, so when it came time to hear the heartbeat, it was a bit more elevated than normal. It was 155, compared to the 140 it has been at the last few appts. Doc said it was because BB was active. And, boy, active is an understatement! Sometimes, it makes me feel nausous because BB kicks so hard. And I can never get enough of watching my belly jump. I catch myself laughing out loud sometimes when I see it. There are definite cycles where I think BB is awake and where I think BB is sleeping. It is most active in the early morning, after lunch, early evening, and then right before bed.

I also had to take my hour glucose tolerance test this morning. It tests to see if I have gestational diabetes. The drink didn't taste bad at all, but I did get an immediate sugar high, and then a headache when I came down from it. I should know the results in a few days. If I failed it, I have to take a 3 hour test and I fail that as well, I get put on a special diet. Here's hoping to a passed test!

Maybe it's just in my head, but I think my uterus is getting a bit more crowded. The baby movement feels a tad bit different. Not in a bad way, but more like a fluid smooth movement. There are jabs and punches, but I think I am feeling more overall body movement.

I have spent a lot of time this week researching baby items. There is a not a lot on my "must have" list, but I want to get the biggest bang for my buck, while at the same time getting something safe and cute.

Lewis and I did purchase a used recliner/glider with ottoman for the nursery. It's a great quality piece in excellent condition that normally retails for $600 new. Of course, we bought ours used. The fabric color leaves a little to be desired, but it just might be time for me to learn how to sew a slip cover or take a "how to upholster" class. Overall, I am super happy with it!

We also bought a travel yard, aka Pack N Play. It has a changing table and bassinet feature, as well as the ability to be used as a playpen. It is one item that I think we will really use a lot. I plan on using it the first few months for BB to sleep in while next to our bed. We got a fabulous deal on it as well.

There is a baby shop here in town that sells new and used baby items. Lucky for us, the owners are old friends/co-workers of ours. I forsee Lewis and I buying and selling there once BB arrive and outgrows clothes and toys.

I guess that's the update for now. I am still working on getting the "surprise" to work. If/When that happens, I'll update the blog.

Happy New Year! Lewis and I are just chilling at home this evening. We may even be asleep before midnight. :)

Sounds like you are doing well. Biggest bang for your buck is the way to go. I had the same type of Pack-n-Play and loved it. We used it all the time since Haleigh was a horrible sleeper I just sort of moved her around the house with me so I could get stuff done. Secondhand is the best! Nowadays they don't take it unless it's in "like-new" condition so why not save yourselves some cash? I'll be looking for your photo online. It always makes me smile and I call the girls over to look. They think you are so cute. Have a great weekend.

I found this once before and had it bookmarked! It is a tutorial for making a slipcover. (I have no idea how I found it but it is very detailed and seems easy!)
